Kuala Lumpur, 20 September 2010 – Malaysian Electronic Payment System Sdn Bhd (MEPS), the premier payment network switch provider, announced that it has maintained its ISO/IEC 27001 certification for Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification with zero non-conformance.

MEPS Group Managing Director, Mohd Suhail Amar Suresh said, “We are extremely proud to receive a zero non-conformance rating for the ISO/IEC 27001 ISMS surveillance audit. This underscores our commitment to providing first-class services to our member banks and their customers, using the industry’s most stringent standards of data security and management.

MEPS initially achieved ISO/IEC 27001 certification in 2006 and was recertified in September 2009 following the successful completion of a re-certification audit by SIRIM QAS International.

The ISO/IEC 27001 certification is awarded to companies that conform to the strict maintenance of Information Security Management System (ISMS) in line with the ISO/IEC 27001 standard requirements. It is the only recognized international standard that defines and audits the requirements for ISMS. MEPS undergoes a series of annual internal audits, in addition to an annual third party surveillance audit, to ensure ongoing conformance to ISO/IEC 27001 requirements, and to ensure that its employees are educated and trained in said standards.
