FINANCIAL PROCESS EXCHANGE IS NOW ACCEPTED BY AirAsia Simple, Convenient and Secure Online Payment for Internet Bookings

Kuala Lumpur, 9 November 2006 – Financial Process Exchange (FPX), an online direct debit interbank payment channel, is on board with AirAsia as payment channel via their website.

FPX offers AirAsia’s guests a more convenient and secure online payment for their Internet flight bookings. It enables guests to pay for flight tickets through the direct debiting of either their savings or current accounts. This is an attractive option for AirAsia’s guests especially those without credit cards.

It is easy to use FPX. After making flight bookings at AirAsia’s website, guests need only to choose FPX as the payment option. A pop-up window will lead them to the Internet Banking website of their choice. Guests will be required to enter their username and password for authentication before proceeding with payment. Upon successful payment transaction, the guest will receive a confirmation notification from their bank.

Since its introduction in mid-September 2006, there has been a steady growth of transactions through FPX. FPX is currently available for Internet Banking customers of Bank Islam, Bumiputra Commerce Bank, Hong Leong Bank and Public Bank. By end of 2006, Maybank and RHB Bank are expected to participate in this service. In addition to AirAsia, payment via FPX is also accepted by various types of on-line businesses such as MAS Kargo, UiTM , Majlis Perbadanan Pulau Pinang and TmNet.
