ATM - Consumer FAQ

How does it work?
MEPS provides the switching network for ATM Service. It links to all participating banks' ATM systems. When you are making a transaction with another bank's ATM machine, MEPS will channel the request to your bank for processing. Once approved, instructions are relayed electronically back to the ATM, thus completing the transaction.

What should I do if I lose my Bankcard?
In case of loss or theft, contact your financial institution (card issuer) immediately. You should keep a copy of your financial institution's name, its customer service phone number, and your account number in a convenient place.

Tips for protecting your Bankcard

  • Keep your card in a safe place
  • Memorize your Personal Identification Number (PIN).
  • Never keep your PIN together with your card or share your PIN with anyone.
  • Keep your ATM receipts, until you check them against your monthly statement. It's a good way to guard against fraud and makes record-keeping easier.

Tips while using your Bankcard at ATM

  • If you need to make a transaction at night, if possible, go with a friend.
  • Have your card ready. Don't fumble through your wallet trying to find it.
  • Ensure that the person waiting to use the ATM after you is not able to see you enter your PIN or transaction amount.
  • Keep your cash, card, and receipt immediately after completing your transaction.
  • If you see anyone or anything suspicious, cancel your transaction and leave immediately.
  • Should someone follow you after making a transaction, go to a crowded or well-lit area.
  • Do not leave your car unlocked or the engine running when you get out to use an ATM.

  1. Can I make cash withdrawal in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand?
    The participating banks are listed below and their customers can withdraw local currency at the following countries:

  2. What do I need to do before making ATM transactions in Indonesia, Singapore or Thailand?
    We would advise that you liaise/check with your respective bank before leaving Malaysia for details, as requirements for the cross border ATM facility are specific to individual banks.

  3. Is there a service fee for making transactions in Indonesia, Singapore or Thailand?
    Yes, a service fee which is determined by individual banks will be levied. Please contact your bank for more details.

  4. What is the foreign exchange rate used when I make cash withdrawal cash at the participating banks' ATMs in Indonesia, Singapore or Thailand?
    The foreign exchange rate of the day will prevail for all cash withdrawals.


INTERBANK ATM FUND TRANSFER

How does it work?
When you need to transfer funds, there are two different ways on how you can use this service:-

  1. Interbank funds transfer at your bank’s ATM
    You can transfer funds from your account to a beneficiary’s account (account maintained in a different bank) at your own bank’s ATM.
  2. Interbank funds transfer at beneficiary’s bank ATM
    You can transfer funds from your account to the beneficiary’s account (account maintained in a different bank) at your beneficiary’s bank ATM.
  3. Funds transfer at other bank’s ATM
    You can also transfer funds between two accounts which are maintained in one bank at another bank’s ATM.

What are the charges for every transaction?
Consumers will be charged RM1-00 per transaction.

Is there any limit to the amount of funds that can be transferred per day?
The limit will depend on your daily ATM withdrawal limit.

If I exceed the ATM withdrawal limit while performing IBFT, will I be able to make other transactions via ATM e.g. Cash withdrawal?
Some banks may have different limit for funds transfer and cash withdrawal. Please contact your bank for further information.

Do I need to register or subscribe to this service?
Registration or subscription is not required. This service is readily available for customers of participating banks.

When will the funds made available?
The funds will be made available immediately as it is conducted online and in real-time.

What are the operating hours?
You can transfer funds anytime from 4.00am to 11.59 am daily, for 365 days a year.


MOBILE PREPAID TOP-UP VIA ATM

Which telecommunication operator offers this service?
At the moment, this service is available for Hotlink and Celcom prepaid top-up subscribers only. Other mobile prepaid operators are expected to participate soon.

How do I reload my mobile prepaid subscription via ATM?
Here are simple steps to reload your mobile prepaid:

Insert Bankcard in the ATM and enter the PIN

Step 2
Select Mobile Prepaid Reload

Step 3
Select account – Savings or Current

Step 4
Select mobile phone operator

Step 5
Select desired reload / top-up denomination

Step 6
Enter mobile phone number

Step 7
Upon successful reload, a SMS message will be sent for confirmation

Are there charges for every transaction?
No, there is no fee charged to the customers.

Are there any purchase limits per day for prepaid top-up?
The limit is the same as per your daily withdrawal via ATM. Please contact your bank for further information.

Do I need to subscribe for this service with the participating Bank?
This service is readily available for all Bankcard holders of participating banks.
